Technology Acceptance & Societal Readiness

Understand what people and organisations need to adopt a technology in practice.

Nexuswelt helps European R&I consortia bring user and stakeholder perspectives into technology development and pilot planning. We structure engagement around needs, concerns and the organisational and societal conditions that could support or prevent adoption.

Our sector focus is on semiconductors, digital technologies and industrial innovation. We also welcome collaboration with consortia in other sectors where our communication, exploitation and stakeholder engagement capabilities match the project’s needs.

Discuss Technology Acceptance

01 — Acceptance in Context

Technology acceptance concerns how intended users perceive a technology and whether they can and want to use it. Societal readiness also considers the wider setting, including affected communities, institutional practices, inclusion and public concerns. The scope should reflect the technology, its application and the requirements of the call, including the integration of social sciences and humanities (SSH) perspectives where the call expects it.

02 — How We Support Your Project

Stakeholder and User Mapping
Identify intended users, decision-makers, affected groups and implementation partners. Clarify whose perspectives are needed and which questions the project should explore with them.
Structured Engagement and Feedback
Plan interviews, feedback sessions and co-creation workshops around specific project questions. Gather perspectives on perceived value, usability, trust, accessibility and conditions for use.
Adoption Barriers and Pilot Recommendations
Document barriers and enabling conditions, then translate findings into recommendations for pilot design and implementation. Track how partner responses and subsequent engagement inform the next steps. For industrial and digital pilots, this can include changes to workflows, skills needs and organisational readiness.

03 — What Your Consortium Receives

Stakeholder and user-group map
Engagement plan and project-specific questions
Interview and workshop materials
Structured feedback synthesis
Adoption barriers and enabling conditions
Recommendations for pilots and uptake planning

The scope depends on the technology, target groups and project stage.

04 — A Method Matched to the Project

Activities are designed around the technology, target groups and project stage. Where specialist social-science research is required, methods and delivery responsibilities are agreed with suitable research partners, including arrangements for participant consent and data handling.

The work is intended to inform project decisions. It does not assume that engagement will produce public acceptance or that one approach will fit every stakeholder group.

We can contribute through a funded consortium role or a contracted assignment, depending on project needs and the rules of the call. Scope, methods, responsibilities and commercial terms are agreed before work begins.
