A reference to their actual prior work signals you have done the research; its absence signals a mass mailing.<\/span><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The timeline, including the submission deadline and when you need a decision.<\/span><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">A one-page profile attached, so they can circulate you internally without rewriting anything.<\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">What to avoid: sending the same message to twenty organisations, approaching three weeks before a deadline, describing capability without proposing a role, and any request for payment in exchange for inclusion &#8211; that last one is a recognised warning sign, not a normal practice.<\/span><\/span><\/p><h2 class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #1f3864;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><b>Designing the consortium, not just filling it<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Evaluators assess whether the consortium is the right team for this specific project.
